Seit den ersten Abstammungsgutachten unter Benutzung der klassischen Blutgruppen Ende der zwanziger Jahre dieses Jahrhunderts wächst die Bedeutung der im Blut nachweisbaren menschlichen Erbanlagen zur Klär…ung strittiger gerichtsmedizinischer Sachverhalte in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten geradezu sprunghaft. Doch ging es bald nicht mehr nur darum, im Laboratorium einen mà glichst umfangreichen Einblick in das Genom einer Person durch Untersuchung von Blut, biologischen Spuren oder Kà rperbestandteilen zu gewinnen, sondern auch darum, die erhaltenen Laborbefunde für ein Gerichtsurteil optimal nutzbar zu machen. Dies gelang vor allem durch Einsatz mathematischer Formeln bzw. Algorithmen zum Zweck der Berechnung verschiedenster Arten von Wahrscheinlichkeit, wie Vaterschafts-, GroÃelternschafts-, Mutterschafts-, Geschwister-, Zwillings-, Identitätswahrscheinlichkeit. Um den Gutachtern umständliche Rechenarbeiten zu ersparen, wurden Tabellen herausgebracht, an denen z.B. anhand von Blutgruppenbefunden bei den Beteiligten - Kind, Mutter und Putativvater - die Wahrscheinlichkeit einer biologischen Vaterschaft (oder Nichtvaterschaft) des betreffenden Mannes entnommen werden kann. Die Vielfalt der in der Praxis vorkommenden Fälle strittiger Blutsverwandtschaft und fraglicher Identität, ebenso die im Labor erzielten Fortschritte in der genetischen Analyse machten ständig weitergehende Bemühungen auf biometrischem Gebiet erforderlich. Hier setzte sich vor allem der Autor dieses Buches mit seiner Freiburger Arbeitsgruppe ein. Nachdem heute sowohl die Entwicklung der Labortechnik als auch die der Biometrie in Bezug auf den Abstammungs- und Identitäts-Beweis einen Hà chststand erreicht haben, entspricht es einem praktischen Bedürfnis, wenn K. Hummel mit dieser Schrift nunmehr eine Ãbersicht über das Erreichte auf dem Gebiet der forensischen Biometrie vorlegt. Jeder, der in Sachen Blutsverwandtschaft oder Spurenkunde mit der Wahrscheinlichkeitsproblematik zu tun hat (Richter, Staatsanwälte, Rechtsanwälte, Jugendämter, Rechtsmediziner, Sachverständige in Kriminalämtern, Personen, die in Straf- und Zivilprozessen involviert sind usw.) kann sich anhand der vorliegenden Monographie in der Materie ausgiebig orientieren. Sie umfasst nicht nur die Erfahrungen des Autors während seiner nunmehr 46 Jahre dauernden praktisch-theoretischen Gutachtertätigkeit, sondern wird auch dem aktuellen Stand der Wissenschaft voll gerecht; einige biometrische Ansätze aus der Spurenkunde sind in dem monographischen Werk erstmals verà ffentlicht. Mehrere Kapitel des Buches sind der juristischen Beweislehre gewidmet. Juristen werden diese als nützlich empfinden. Im übrigen berührt das Werk auch an vielen anderen Stellen juristisch relevante Materie; erwähnt sei hier vor allem das "Utility"-Problem.

Each year, the conference attracts about 130 participants worldwide.The 15th Conference on Learning Factories (CLF) was hosted by the Department of Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University, in the beautiful town of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
