Herrmann wieder ausführlich behandelt worden. In seinem vor kurzem erschienenen Buch über den bronzenen Kesselschmuck aus Olympia wird zum ersten Male das heute zur Verfügung stehende Material übersichtlich zusammengestellt und zu einem großen Teil abgebildet, so daß wir nun eine feste Grundlage für die Behandlung des ganzen Komplexes besitzen. Der Hauptteil des Buches ist der Herkunftsfrage gewidmet. Der Verfasser kommt zu der eindeutigen Antwort, daß der überwiegende Teil der orientalischen Attaschen mit menschlicher Protome bis auf zwei assyrische Exemplare aus späthethitisch-nordsyrischen Werkstätten stamme. Dieses Ergebnis, das aus eingehenden Detailuntersuchungen hervorgeht, verleiht einer schon früher von E. Kunze geäußerten Ansicht neue, anregende Aktualität. Es befindet sich im Gegensatz zu der bisher vorherrschenden Meinung, die meisten der Attaschen seien urartäische Erzeugnisse. Wenn die neu begründete These richtig ist, dann ergibt sich ein neuer Aspekt der nordsyrischen Kunst, das ohnehin sehr wenig einheitliche Bild wird noch bunter. - Wikipedia: Helmut Kyrieleis (* 10.
