These were intended to be an alternative to Christmas cards. However, even though they have drifted from the Christmas them, these pamphlets, with the contents sewn, are still utterly charming and really rather lovely. This edition is from Stephen Spender - a friend of the difficult Auden and who spent considerable energy trying to hide his well known homosexuality from his disapproving but devoted wife, Natasha.
