Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition, first printing. Published by Heinemann in London, 1957. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, finely illustrated by Osbert Lancaster, is toned at the top edge and the spine. It has not been price clipped and shows the original 12s 6d net price - stain to the fore-edge. The blue cloth boards no chips or marks to note. The text blocks are bright and white throughout. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in very good condition with some v-shaped losses to the spine tips. Pippin IV explores the life of Pippin Héristal, an amateur astronomer in 1950s France, who is suddenly proclaimed the King of France. Unknowingly appointed to give the Communists a monarchy to revolt against, Pippin is chosen because he was descended from the famous king Charlemagne.
