Aggiungi al carrelloA collection of 59 original album prints (c.21 x 28 cm.) in black & white except for one in colour, most titled and signed in the negative, each laid onto thicker card (27 x 35 cm.), the ensemble housed in a contemporary portfolio of blue pebbled cloth with red morocco title-label to upper cover ("Syrie-Égypte"), marbled endpape…rs, and original green ties. Additional manuscript captions in French to some prints. Some occasional light fading, one print with scattered spotting to card only, generally a wonderfully preserved collection of photographs handsomely presented in a contemporary portfolio. An impressive collection of albumen prints of the Middle East by Bonfils, Beato, and Langaki. The majority are of Egypt and include a selection of ancient Egyptian monuments and scenes from contemporary life. In addition there are photographs of Syria and Lebanon. The photos depict a wide variety of subjects, including exterior and interior views of Mosques, portraits, antiquities, views, etc. etc.

Aggiungi al carrelloTen original large format albumen prints depicting Egyptian street scenes and portraits of various Middle Eastern peoples resident in Egypt. 28 x 21.5cm. Seven of the images titled and signed in the negative by the photographers Langaki, Peridis, or Georgiladakis; although with the other three also almost certainly by the same p…hotographers. Each photograph has been tipped at the head onto a later sheet of card and additionally titled in pencil to the foot. Most of the photographs have a little creasing to the corners and edges, occasional wrinkling, the odd minor spot of foxing to the verso, a few small nicks to the extremities (a few with small 1cm tears, one with an old paper repair verso), a 2.5cm tear to the right-hand side of the 'Arabian Family', a 2cm tear to the right-hand side of the 'Turkish Dancing Girl', and one image (the Bread Sellers) with the title trimmed at the foot; the card mounts with a little bumping to the corners. An appealing group of images by these early photographers of Egypt, comprising: a "Fruit Seller" (Langaki); "Street Hawkers in Cairo" (Peridis); "Arab Drinking his Coffee" (Langaki); "Merchants Selling Food" (Peridis); "Selling Bread, Cairo"; "Arabian Family" (Peridis & Georgiladakis); "Blind Beggar"; "Street Fruit Seller" (Langaki); "Turkish Dancing Girl"; and "Entrance to the Pyramid of Cheops" (Peridis).
