Measures 2 3/4" x 4 1/2" x 1". Scuffing and wear to binding but reasonably clean. Rubbing at edges and on hinges and chipping to paper. Bumped and torn corners. Binding reasonably firm. Page edges contain some scuffing and marking, and a degree of fading to marbling pattern. Inscription to free endpaper prior to Goldsmith work and signature to endpaper prior to Johnson. Some page corners dog-eared. Top edge of page 65 of Hamond and Hervey has had the top piece cut off. Some foxing, staining and other marking throughout, with a little ink blotching to initial front endpapers of book, but no underlining, marginalia, etc. 70, 65, 110, 64, 94 pp. 1806-8. n.

This collection of verse was originally published in 1771. The leather binding has split with the front panel detached. Rubbing to the corners with some fraying. Brown spotting to the pages with quite heavy brown stains to the bottom corners of the last 40 pages. Illustrated by Thomas Stothard.

This work was particularly popular as it uses interactions between plants to deliver moral lessons. It was an interesting approach at the time, and aside from rare precedents in Aesop's fables, had great originality. With a preface on the life of Langhorne by F Blagdon. In a full tree calf binding with gilt stamping to the spine. Externally, generally smart with small patches of rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Small amount of loss to the head and tail of spine. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown, Theophile Barrois. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Instances of scattered spotting throughout. Very Good. book.
