Exemplaire truffé de 3 coupures de presse de l'époque sur le sujet. Première édition, rare, de cette monographie remarquable, à la fois très documentée et originale, avec la synthèse des importants travaux de Launois sur le gigantisme et l'acromégalie. On y trouve la description du gigantisme hypophysaire (pituitary gigantism) auquel l'auteur laissa son nom (syndrome de Launois). Launois et Roy rapportent 74 observations (géants vivants, géants autopsiés, squelettes de géants). On trouve relié à la suite la thèse de Roy, élève de Launois, soutenue l'année précédente. Pierre Emile Launois (1856-1914) fut médecin des hôpitaux de Paris et agrégé d'histologie à la Faculté de médecine. REFERENCES: S.
