Third edition, corrected and substantially revised, of the first part of the most significant work on applying Roman Law to the southern German legal system at the beginning of the 18th century. Wolfgang Lauterbach (1618-1678), and his son Ulrich Lauterbach were both lawyers and professors at Tubingen, and the father's witty and popular lectures inspired generations of German lawyers. Prepared from 100s of lectures, and numerous law student manuscripts, this work would prove very influential in the development of German law into the 19th century, and would be revised and printed several times. Lauterbach's writings served as one of Karl Marx' influential texts in 1837 during his first year at the University of Berlin. Worldcat locates 2 copies.
