William Law (1686-1761) was a highly influential 18th-century English Anglican priest, mystic, and devotional writer, best known for his work A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life (1729). As a non-juror who refused to pledge allegiance to King George I, he lost his fellowship at Cambridge and spent much of his life writing and acting as a spiritual guide. This book contains two of his works: I-An Earnest and Serious Answer to Dr Trapp's Discourse of the Folly, Inland Danger of Being Righteous Over-much; AND II-An Appeal to All That Doubt, Or Disbelieve the Truths of the Gospel. 209pp.Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Light shelf-wear to extremities. Lower corners have been affected by damp some time ago.

Law's classic work on Christian morality and life, together with a biographical note on Law by the eminent historian Edward Gibbon, best know for his History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.
