Mint paperback reprint of a 1947 publication. 264pp. This is another of the series of CAB papers covering the Battle of El Alamein and describes operations prior to the offensive. It continues the story from the end of Romme's attack (see CAB 44/99: The German Attack, already reprinted) and covers raiding operations in September 1942, the attack on Deir el Munassib at the end of September and planning and preparation for Operation Lightfoot. With 5 A2 and 6 A3 maps.
