The title was taken from Kafka and used by novelist Lee Seung-u, elaborated through through eight stories, and is elaborated further here by four Seoul-based Korean artists: Kim Bomin, Son Donghyun, Lee Eun-sil [Eunsil Lee], and Lee Eun-woo [Eunu Lee]. From the preface (ori…ginally in Korean): "In Lee Seung-u's fiction, the 'home' is sometimes filled with the stench of decay or haunted by strange sounds. The peace that once defined the home is shattered by the sudden emergence of 'invisible things' (such as odours and sounds). These manifestations feel 'sudden' because they were previously unseen; although they had always been present, people had failed to perceive them (.) Let us listen to the ceaseless, clamorous clash of unseen forces resonating within the scenes presented by these four artists. Perhaps that is precisely what constitutes 'one's own home' - existing right here, right now". A very rare, institutionally unrecorded illustrated exhibition catalogue with essays by critic Dae-bum Lee. The group show features the work of Son Donghyun whose work appropriates Western pop culture against traditional Korean styles, and the dreamlike landscape-forms of Eunsil Lee. Very good condition.
