This book is a work of fiction about a young man whose family takes refuge from marauding Indians in a Kentucky fort during Pontiac's War. Publicly humiliated by the fort's commandant upon arrival, the young man swallows his pride and, by sneaking out at night to hunt in secret, manages to singlehandedly feed the fort's refugees. Later, he helps drive off the Indians for good. The last third of the book contains the short story Hern Bishop's Guardian; A Story of Railroading in the Great Northwest by Coe Hayne. A clean presentable copy.
