He is particularly known for large, site-dominating works that employ sound, mechanical motion, or light. Many of his pieces explore human behavior, morality, and psychological landscapes. PhD and museum director Leevi Haapala examines the dynamics of opposing forces in Copper's works, focusing especially on the layered meanings of Khyber Pass (2014). Art historian Saara Karhunen analyzes the performative aspects of Copper's sculptures and the viewer's role, drawing on his early-1990s performance art. Copper spent 15 years working in Sweden and Denmark, a period and artistic mindset explored in an article by Swedish art historian and critic Carolina Söderholm.
