Condizione: Gut. ed. 600. 56 p., num. ill., inside of the dust jacket a patch by Maija Luutonen. A perfect copy. - From the foreword by Leevi Haapala, Museum Director: The first artist chosen for Kiasma Commission by Kordelin series is Maija Luutonen (b. 1978). This time we wanted an artist with several years' experience of working in the field of art. Luutonen graduated in 2006 as a Master of Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, and her works have been seen not only in Finland but also across the Baltic and Nordic regions. Using painterly techniques, Luutonen stretches the boundaries of traditional painting out towards the space and the observing viewer. Particularly interesting in Luutonen's oeuvre is its dazzling visuality and the highly sensory utilization of materials and surfaces. Often created on paper, the works are about creating a space and a presence for the viewer through colour, light and experimentation with media.
