Als die christlichen Burgerinnen und Burger im spatmittelalterlichen deutschen Reichsgebiet eigene Siegel zu fuhren begannen, nahmen auch Judinnen und Juden an dieser Praxis teil. Sowohl judische Geschaftsleute wie auch judische Gemeinden nutzten eigene Siegel als Ausdruck der Selbstreprasentation beim Abschluss von Rechtsakten in Verbindung mit Christen. Andreas Lehnertz legt nun eine Edition dieser Judensiegel von ihrem Aufkommen seit etwa der Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts bis zum Jahr 1519 vor (Teil II), die als Basis fur weiterfuhrende Studien dient (Teil I). Die Studie untersucht Judensiegel von Individuen wie ganzen Gemeinden unter verschiedenen Aspekten. Dabei werden die Besiegelungspraxis ebenso wie die Urkundenformulare, an denen die Judensiegel hangen, untersucht und in ihren jeweiligen historischen Kontext eingeordnet. Insbesondere die Judensiegel der Erzstiftes Trier und der Freien Stadt Regensburg stehen hierbei im Fokus. Die Arbeit wurdigt damit sowohl das Einzelsiegel wie auch das Corpus der Judensiegel im Allgemeinen als Teil der judischen materialen Kultur des Mittelalters.
