Dark navy cloth covered boards with gilt-stamped border around edges of front panel and at head and tail of board spine; gilt stamped lettering front panel and spine. Upper external page edges are gilt. Edges at head and tail of board spine are split and chipped. The upper 4" along the front spine fold is split and fraying but holding; several small splits along the back spine fold as well as rubs. Base of spine has white smudge, likely where the ex-lib marks were. All fore-edge corner tips are rubbed through. Withdrawn bookplate on front paste down. Inside front gutter is partially cracked but holding. Small penciled notes on FFEP. Ex-lib marks on title page, page v. of preface, possibly others. Text pages are clean and text block is stable.
