Die erste Jubiläumsfestschrift einer deutschen Eisenbahngesellschaft. - Die Leipzig-Dresdner Eisenbahn ist die zweite Eisenbahnstrecke in Deutschland nach der Strecke Nürnberg-Fürth und gilt a…ls unmittelbare Schöpfung Friedrich Lists. List setzte sich bereits ab 1827 für den Bau einer Eisenbahn nach amerikanischem Vorbild ein. Das von ihm im März 1834 gegründete Komitee zum Bau einer Eisenbahn von Leipzig nach Dresden hatte 1835 das Anfangskapital von 2 Millionen Taler zusammen. Am 24. April 1837 wurde das erste 7,5 km lange Teilstück eröffnet und am 7. April 1839 war die gesamte 115 km lange Strecke in Betrieb. Die Bahn blieb bis 1876 in privatem Besitz und wurde dann verstaatlicht. Die Festschrift beschreibt sehr detailliert die historische Entwicklung und die wirtschaftlichen Verhältnisse. Die Tafel zeigt ein Längenprofil der Strecke. - Tafel mit kleinem Einriss. Einband leicht bestoßen und wie immer Anfang und Ende leicht stockfleckig sowie Vorsätze oxidiert. Insgesamt gut erhalten.
