Van Haute A024/004. Er bestaat ook een Nederlandstalige versie. Jos Léonard was een belangrijk vernieuwer van de typografie in België. Hij was bevriend met Paul van Ostaijen, Jozef Peeters en de gebroeders Jespers. Vanaf 1926 werkte hij samen met de drukker Willy Godenne.

Beveren-Roeselaere, Frères Jonckheere, ca. 1926-1930. Vouwblad van getint karton, tweezijdig bedrukt in paars en geel naar ontwerp van Jos Léonard. Enkele kleine vlekjes. Reclamekaart van carrosseriefabriek Jonckheere (later Bussen Jonckheere) over de vernieuwing van het materiaal waar auto's mee gevernist werden: geen olieverf meer, maar nitro-cellulose. Oplage beperkt tot 1000 genummerde exemplaren. Dit is nr. 269. Verhalen is een postuum gepubliceerde bundel van Karel van de Woestijne, verschenen in 1944. De bundel bevat prozateksten die de thematische en stilistische kenmerken van Van de Woestijne's oeuvre weerspiegelen. Zijn werk staat bekend om de verfijnde expressie van de moderne psyche, waarin het conflict tussen lichamelijkheid en spiritualiteit centraal staat. De verhalen in deze bundel zijn doordrenkt van symboliek en mystiek, en tonen de innerlijke strijd van de mens tussen aardse verlangens en hogere idealen. De toevoeging van vier droge-naaldetsen door J. Gorus versterkt de contemplatieve en introspectieve sfeer van de teksten. Karel van de Woestijne was een Vlaamse dichter en schrijver, geboren in Gent. Hij studeerde aan de Universiteit van Gent en werd beïnvloed door het Franse symbolisme. Van de Woestijne was een prominent lid van de literaire beweging 'Van Nu en Straks' en werkte als correspondent voor de Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant. In 1920 werd hij benoemd tot hoogleraar Nederlandse letterkunde aan de Universiteit van Gent. Zijn werk wordt gekenmerkt door een diepgaande verkenning van de menselijke ziel, met thema's als zinnelijkheid, religie en mystiek.

The front cover of this booklet is designed by Jos Leonard (StudioNovio ). It is a purely abstract design in the manner of the ''Futurist'' style. Rare in this pristine condition. Added is the same publication but for the following year ( 1927). This time the designer recedes from his futurist work. The front cover represent the bell tower of the Mechlin cathedral. (this issue also in very fine condition). Price for the two items.
