La chiesa cattolica lo venera come beato dal 18 novembre 2007, ma diverse sue convinzioni questo decreto firmato da LEONE XIII "giudicò doversi riprovare, condannare e proscrivere, nel proprio senso dell'autore", chiarendo inoltre che non era lecito "a chicchessia di inferire, che le altre dottrine del medesimo Autore, che non vengono condannate per questo decreto, siano per veruna guisa approvate". Giovanni XXIII, Paolo VI e perfino papa Luciani, inzialmente avverso, prestarono interesse al Rosmini; Giovanni Paolo II ne avviò la beatificazione, Ratzinger (poi papa Benedetto XVI) nel 2001 pur riaffermando la validità del decreto "Post obitum", confermò la riabilitazione di Rosmini.
