Kartoniert. Ca. 1876 - 1882. Ein Blatt. Voll flächig auf den Trägerkarton montiert, unter einem altrosa Passepartout, gerahmt unter Glas mit teilvergoldeter Holzleiste. (Minimal braunfleckig, das Passepartout nicht ganz passend, Vergoldung der Profilleiste teilweise abgeplatzt). Das Blatt zeigt eine bukolische Landschaft und ist… in der Platte signiert: "Willem Linnig Junior nach Rubens". Das deutsche "nach Rubens" weist darauf hin, dass die Radierung während Linnigs Zeit in Weimar entstand. Linnig schuf 123 Radierungen, 122 davon nach seinen eigenen Vorstellungen, lediglich für "Nymphen und Satyrn" ließ er sich von dem Gemälde von Rubens inspirieren. Linnigs Radierung ist aber keine Kopie der Vorlage, sondern ein ganz eigenständiges Kunstwerk mit feiner Linienführung und barockem Überschwang. "Willem Linnig der Jüngere (geb. 28. August 1842 in Antwerpen; gest. 3. September 1890 ebenda) war ein belgischer Porträt- und Genremaler sowie Radierer. Außerdem gehörte die Historienmalerei zu seinem Oeuvre." (Wikipedia). Von 1876 bis 1882 wirkte Linnig als Professor an der Großherzoglich-Sächsischen Kunstschule in Weimar, wohin er von Carl Alexander, Großherzog von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach, berufen worden war. - Thieme-Becker, Bd. 23, p. 256. - Weitere Bilder auf Anfrage oder auf unserer Homepage.
