Friedrich Lippman was a notable German art historian and director of the Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings), who was known for his work on Durer, Holbein and Italian 15th century woodcuts. Small 4to.

Friedländer, Max Jakob (*1867 Berlin - 1958 Amsterdam) deutscher Kunsthistoriker. Zunächst wissenschaftlicher Volontär bei Friedrich Lippman am Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin. 1894 als Assistent Ludwig Scheiblers in der Grafischen Sammlung des Wallraf-Richartz-Museums in Köln. Von 1896 bis 1933 Tätigkeit an der Berliner Gemäldegalerie, ab 1924 als Erster Direktor. Von 1908 bis 1930 war er zugleich Direktor des Kupferstichkabinetts. 1933 wurde er als "Nichtarier" entlassen. 1939 Emigartion in die Niederlande.
