Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book from 1744 provides a fascinating insight into the diplomatic and political world of mid-18th century Europe. Published at a time of great upheaval, the author vividly describes their experiences in the lead up to the Jacobite rebellion, and their fears that the French would be successful. From the planned invasion by the Young Pretender to the Siege of Ypres, the author gives an eyewitness account of the actions being taken by the British and French to secure their positions. One of the first books to be written about the Jacobite rebellion, there is no better resource for anyone who wants to understand the depth of Parliamentary divisions at the time, or the extent to which everyday life was affected by the threat of invasion. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
