Ken Lum kombiniert vielfach Fotografien mit Text, schafft aber auch Möbelskulpturen und Sprachgemälde. Ken Lum ist chinesischer Herkunft. Eines seiner Themen ist das Aufbrechen von rassen-, gender- und klassenbezogenen Stereotypen.
