Vorwiegend auf dem Gebiete der gastro-osophagealen und Colonpathologie hat sich zudem fUr die operative, d. h. thera peutisch ausgerichtete Endoskopie beim erwachsenen Patienten ein klar definierter Indikationenkreis herauskristallisiert. Beim Saugling und beim Kind galt es zunachst, die technischen Probleme zu losen - Instrumente zu entwickeln, welche in Hinsicht auf Kaliber und Flexibilitat auch in dieser Altersklasse moglichst gefahrlos und ohne zu groBe Unannehmlichkeiten angewandt wer den konnen. Nicht minder wichtig war es auch, die spezifischen Indikationen, Techniken und Befunde in dieser Altersklasse klar herauszuarbeiten: so z. B. sind das Ulcus ventriculi et duodeni selten beim Kind, die Karzinome im oberen und unteren Magen-Darm trakt ebenfalls. Andere Krankheitsbilder, wie MiBbildungen und andere angeborene Storungen sind baufiger. Ferner erlangt die FrUherfassung von Lasionen bei chronisch-entzUndlichen Darm erkrankungen (Colitis ulcerosa und Ileocolitis granulomatosa Crohn) eine immer groBere Bedeutung in der Padiatrie angesichts der rapiden Zunahme dieser Krankheitsbilder bei Kindem und wegen der Schwierigkeit sie auf andere Weise, z. B. radiologisch zu erfassen. Das vorliegende Buch von M. Burdelski und H. Huchzermeyer ist das erste, welches die padiatrische gastrointestinale Endoskopie umfassend beschreibt.
