Prima edizione
1929 Cambridge, 1st edn, 373pp, frontis. Limited to 300 copies. Privately printed for John C. Phillips, the famed bibliographer of sporting books, this book is exceedingly difficult to find. A scarce work on duck shooting by a renowned sportsman of his day. Mackay hunted all manner of waterfowl, particularly along the Massachusetts coast, Lake Champlain and Long Island, Currituck in North Carolina, the Argentine Pampas, and waterfowl and prairie chicken hunting in Minnesota. Taken almost verbatim from his journals by John C. Phillips, this is an incredible record dating from the late 19th century into the first quarter of the 20th century. Mackay not only describes the shooting itself, but the conditions, laying out hundreds of decoys, and the numerous species he and his companions encountered. Very good copy, rebacked spine.
