Cover also serves as title-page and includes engraving of a star, which Mackley sent as a proof to Deborah ( the child of the title) with one of his letters. A printed folded insert indicates that this copy was used as a Christmas and New Year card by Leonard and Gladys Gray in 1989, also recording the fact of their 50th wedding anniversary. Stapled sheets, originally held - and just holding - by three very light glue points to a dark grey folded card cover / jacket with the printing on the cover in dark gray. An 'as new' copy. George Edward Mackley MBE (born 1900 in Huntingdon, died 1983 in Tonbridge, Kent) was an English wood engraving artist: "My wife was born at Hemingford Grey in Huntingdonshire and we knew and loved its river, the Great Ouse.
