Élise de Pressensé, née à Yverdon-les-Bains le 26 décembre 1826 et morte à Paris le 11 avril 1901, est une femme de lettres suisse et engagée sur le plan de l'action sociale. Élise-Françoise-Louise de Plessis-Gouret effectue sa formation à l'école supérieure de jeunes filles de Lausanne1. Elle épouse, en 1847 Edmond de Pressensé, pasteur protestant de la « chapelle Taitbout ». Leur fils, Francis de Pressensé est une personnalité politique, membre fondateur de la Ligue des droits de l'homme et leur fille Émilie (1857-1923) épouse le pasteur et missiologue Alfred Boegner. Élise de Pressensé participe à l'aide sociale, en tant qu'ambulancière. En 1871, elle crée l'uvre de la chaussée du Maine3. Elle écrit des ouvrages pédagogiques pour gagner des âmes, des volontés, des êtres nouveaux. Elle meurt à Paris, le 11 avril 19014.
