Analysing building techniques and Africa's cultural history, he concludes that the Great Zimbabwe was built as a ninth century camp for black slaves before they were shipped to the Middle East. Edward Wilfrid Nassau Mallows (1905-2003), architect, was born in England and emigrated to South Africa in 1939.
