He provided the drawings for the popular series of prints 'The Cries of London'. Sadly I haven't been able to find out anything about the author Robert Raines. Quite a scarce book. First published in 1687.______________ London trades people, including pedlars, chimney sweeps, acrobats, beggars and so on. Provenance: George Lee, ownership inscription on title; Fenton of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, ownership inscription and armorial bookplate. Brunet III 882, noting 1711 edition without imprint and with plates unnumbered as here.___________ A fairly good complete copy, with some faults as noted above and priced accordingly.
