harde kaft. Condizione: Als Nieuw. A Limited edition. Demy-folio, [28,75 cm / 11,5 inch], volledig picturale stof zonder stofomslag, pp. 278. . Demy folio, [28.75 cm / 11.5 inchs], fully pictorial cloth sans dust jacket, pp. 278. Illustrated with b-w halftones, color plates &tc. In Dutch. Please feel free to ask for details and/or additional photos. A translation of the publisher's blurb reads: A book about the former Shipyard 'Westerbroek' J.G. Bröerken was published in March 2017. In the book, in addition to the history of the yard, the life course of all ships built by the shipyard is also described. The description of the history of the yard buildings dates back to the year 1902. The year in which the company Wortelboer & Co. at the Winschoterdiep in Westerbroek, where the yard of Bröerken would later be located, the first construction sites were built. The history of this yard is also discussed in detail in the book. Nowadays, the buildings still present, which are now used as a shipyard, and the keel beam are designated by the municipality of Hoogezand-Sappemeer as a municipal monument. The yard' Westerbroek' was from 1941 owned by Johannes Gerardus Bröerken Sr. and his three sons. The yard built until 1972, the year in which the yard was closed due to a lack of new orders, mainly coastal vessels. Not for nothing is the subtitle of the book'Coaster builders at the Winschoterdiep'. In almost 30 years of thorough historical research, I grew up on a farm opposite the yard of Bröerken, and at a young age I took my father and mother to the spectacular transverse ship launches, collected a lot of information that is now bundled into a unique book in which the reader is taken to shipbuilding in the period of the Second World War and in the following years, the glory days of Groningen shipbuilding. In addition to the easily readable text, the necessary anecdotes and many photographs make the book a reference book for anyone interested in local history and the Groningen shipbuilding industry and coastal shipping in particular".

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book is a gift from the international community of amyloid friends, presented to Professor Dr. Enno Mandema on the occasion of his retirement from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. It is the 'precipitation' of up to date knowledge of amyloidosis, as presented at the International Course on Amyloidosis in Groningen, on the 10th and 11th of October 1986. Twenty years ago, Professor Mandema invited a group of scientists, who were studying the various aspects of amyloidosis from different points of view, to discuss their mutual interest in the subject. This 'First International Symposium' was held for five days in September 1967. It was a wonderful experience for the participants, as most of them had until then only read each others work in the literature. The proceedings of that symposium, which contained the 'lively' dis cussions, became a text-book for the following years. Research continued, and while the book was still in preparation, the revolutionary method of 'water-soluble amyloid' was published. In the following years, different amyloid proteins were discovered and the mo lecular basis of the different amyloid syndromes was elucidated. The increase in knowledge parallelled the availability of modern, ingenious and also rapid methods in the biomedical sciences.
