The story of two obscure young Englishmen who visited Australia in the service of William IV, Queen Victoria and the Admiralty. The first was Charles Darwin, official naturalist in His Majesty's survey ship 'Beagle', which sailed into Sydney Cove in 1836. The second was Thomas Henry Huxley, assistant to the 'Rattlesnake', which dropped anchor in Farm Cove eleven years later. This account of their activities by the late Professor A. J. (Jock) Marshall is the most detailed recent account. Plus dedication to the late author by artist Russell Drysdale. (The drawings are mostly reproductions of pencil sketches.). …
