A unique piece of history. The Warren Court during the period from October 1967 to May 1969 represented the culmination of the Courtâs liberal constitutional revolution. This lineup presided over several landmark decisions that reinforced civil liberties and the rights of the accused. In Katz v. United States (1967), the Court expanded Fourth Amendment protections to include electronic surveillance, holding that the Constitution protects people, not just physical places. In Epperson v. Arkansas (1968), the justices struck down a state ban on teaching evolution, strengthening the Establishment Clause. Moreover, the Court advanced principles of racial equality and free expression, setting precedents that shaped American law well beyond Warrenâs retirement in 1969.
