A map and a timeline showing the lifespans of the artists represented complete volume 1. Volume 2 contains an introductory essay, the extensive footnotes to the first volume, a chronology of dynasties and a chronology of emperors. Color and B&W illustrations. Volume 1 is Signed and Inscribed by the author Marshall P.S. Wu, senior curator of Asian Art at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. It is inscribed to Dorothy Tapper Goldman. Her husband owned what is believed to be one of only eight existing original printed copies of the United States Constitution, and the only copy known to be in private hands, a spokesman for the Supreme Court Historical Society said. There are only a few of these 2 volume sets w/slipcase for sale anywhere. This is the Only one signed. NF/NF. The books themselves are in Near Fine condition. No soiling on covers or pages. No markings or writing on the pages of the volumes. The only imperfections of note are a bump/crease at the bottom of the spine of Volume One(zoom in on the photo). And a small mark on the back cover of the second volume(see photo). The light green paper Slipcase has an attractive design and gilt lettering. It has only 2 tiny spots of soiling. Considering that it has supported 600 pages of text it has held up considerably well. It has only a 2 inch tear at the lower back, a 1/2 inch tear at the top back and a little edge wear and pulling away at the top. Only a little of the wear at the top is visible from the front view and if you look at the First photo you will see that it will present well in the bookcase.
