Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good+. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good-. 1st Edition. The book remains crisp, clean and bright. DJ bumped along top edge with a small tear. Description: This full-colour, superbly illustrated atlas presents the findings of Butterflies for the New Millennium, the most comprehensive survey of butterflies ever undertaken in Britain and Ireland. After five years of recording by thousands of volunteers, it provides an up-to-date assessment of our butterflies, the habitats they live in, the threats they face, and the major changes that have occurred since publication of the previous such atlas in 1984. The body of the book is taken up with species by species accounts, each accompanied by a full-page distribution map and colour photographs of the butterfly concerned. A wider context is provided by considering long-term trends in distribution, derived from 200 years of recording and recent changes elsewhere in Europe. In addition, the book summarises the wealth of new information about butterfly ecology, incorporates findings from the Butterfly Monitoring Scheme, describes and illustrates the habitats favoured by particular communities of butterflies, and presents a vision of how these popular insects might be conserved in the future. As such, it will be invaluable to a wide range of readers, from amateur naturalists to professional conservationists and policy makers.…

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 2014 Cambridge University Press hardcover edition. Unread copy in very good condition. From the cover: The law and policy applicable to the not-for-profit sector is of growing importance around the world. In this book, legal experts address fundamental questions about not-for-profit law from a range of theoretical and comparative perspectives. The essays provide scholarly analysis of not-for-profit law, organised around four themes: (1) Politics, in the broader sense of living as a community, and the narrower sense of political power; (2) Charity, how it is defined and changes in its meaning over time; (3) Taxation, including the rationale for government support of the sector through the tax system; (4) Regulation, which is of increasing significance as governments establish increasingly complex forms of regulation of not-for-profit activity. The fundamental aim of the book is to deepen our understanding of not-for-profit law and of the rationales and modes of government support for the not-for-profit sector.
