Für die Reproduktion wurde das Exemplar in der Zentralbibliothek in Zürich verwendet. Der Kupferstecher Kurt Wiedenmann übertrug diese auf eine Kupferplatte und besorgte die Handabzüge.- Die… Ansicht stamm aus der "Topographia Helvetiae" von Matthäus Merian von 1642.Matthäus Merian der Ältere wurde am 22. September 1593 in Basel geboren. Er lernte das Zeichnen und Kupferstechen vom Züricher Kupferstecher Friedrich Meyer. Ab 1619 arbeitete er in Frankfurt beim Verleger Johann Theodor de Bry, dessen Tochter er später heiratete. Nach de Bry's Tod vervollständigte er die von de Bry 1590 begonnene Reihe Grand Voyages und Petit Voyage. Zusammen mit Martin Zeiller, einem deutschen Geographen, verlegte er die populäre Reihe Topographia mit insgesamt 21 Bänden. Die Arbeit wurde von seinen Söhnen Matthäus der Jüngere und Caspar vollendet. Merian starb am 19. Juni 1650 in Bad Schwalbach. 1200 gr. Schlagworte: Grafik - vor 1800, Helvetica - Aargau.
