Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. In today's rapidly changing world, new social and human service problems emerge constantly, and in order to make good use of resources that are often limited, social service agencies must ensure that their services are truly needed. Needs assessments provide a baseline against which later results can be compared, and may also assist policy-makers in recognizing new trends or problems on the horizon. With so much hinging on their outcome, these assessments must be conducted both accurately and efficiently, and this pocket guide will give practitioners the ability to do so. Written by a group of social work scholars with a collective wealth of experience in conducting needs assessments at all levels, this practical guide will walk readers step by step through the process of selecting the right design to confidently conducting the assessment, meticulously analyzing data, and finally writing a cogent report. In addition, the authors explore the various approaches that can be used to assess the needs of a client or population group and the differences between large- and small-scale assessments. Later chapters in the book include discussions of emerging technologies in the field as well as abundant social work case examples. Social work graduate students, as well as social workers in the field who need to brush up on their skills, will find this book an invaluable aid.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the complex legal and moral questions surrounding the actions of individuals who, after a change in government, act under the authority of a deposed ruler. The author tackles the issue of whether such individuals should be considered pirates and, in doing so, examines the very nature of law, both natural and international. By exploring the definitions of "enemy" and "pirate," the author analyzes how international relations are affected by changes in power and the shifting allegiances of individuals caught in the crossfire. The author engages with the historical context of the debate surrounding international law and sovereignty. By drawing on examples from historical conflicts, such as those involving the French and Spanish crowns, the author provides a nuanced understanding of the complexities of navigating international law during periods of political upheaval. Through an engaging exploration of the nuances of power and obedience, the author challenges the notion of absolute obedience to a ruler, proposing that individuals retain a right to oppose oppressive regimes. The book's central argument, that nations should treat those who act under the authority of a deposed ruler as pirates, underlines the importance of upholding the principles of justice and the sanctity of international law, even in the face of political turmoil. This book offers a thought-provoking and timely examination of the enduring relevance of these concepts in shaping international relations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Aggiungi al carrelloCondizione: ESTC T101187. 8vo. 4.25 x 6.25 inches. viii + 396 pp. Bound in original calf with recent paper label on spine. Extremities a little worn but otherwise a good copy. Early inscription at top of title. Decorated by title page and head and tailpiece vignettes. Anonymously published but known to be the work of Matthew Tindal (1653?-1733), who became notorious as a religious controversialist. A revision of the first, quarto edition, of 1730, ESTC states that the imprint is false and it was probably printed in the Netherlands. Tindal, who later became notorious as a freethinker, converted to Catholicism while at Oxford but later conveniently returned to the Church of England just in time for the Revolution of 1688. He had now qualified as a lawyer and attacked Jacobites on behalf of William III's government. In religion he turned away from the Church and the powers claimed by the clergy of any denomination. His move towards deism, rationalism and natural religion is reflected in his many writing of which this is a late example. It provoked more than thirty published replies with titles like Christianity is not as old as the Creation. Tindal intended this title to be Part I of a wider work but apparently at the time of his death, only thirty pages of Part II had been written.
