Het dagelijks leven uit de 16de eeuw staat dit najaar centraal in Rotterdam met bordelen, feestvierende boeren, kwakzalvers en ongelijke liefde. Met ironie en zelfspot wordt de maatschappij weerspiegeld in de kunst. Soms is er sprake van een moraal, maar de humor en ironie overheerst. Niets ontsnapte aan de aandacht van deze generatie kunstenaars. Nooit eerder is een tentoonstelling met topwerken uit de periode vanaf de late Middeleeuwen tot circa 1570 rondom dit thema gemaakt. De tentoonstelling ?Van Bosch tot Bruegel? bevat een selectie van politiek incorrecte schilder- en prentkunst van het hoogste niveau. Zo?n veertig zestiende-eeuwse schilderijen en eenzelfde aantal prenten worden uit belangwekkende particuliere en museale collecties naar Rotterdam gehaald voor deze tentoonstelling over zestiende-eeuwse genreschilderkunst, een nieuw thema in die periode. Schilderkunst werd voor het eerst losgekoppeld van religie of portretten: het dagelijks leven is de nieuwe inspiratiebron en satirische onderwerpen worden niet geschuwd.
