Voilà des années que je me demande ce qu'il en est de l'art de raconter des histoires dans la psychanalyse. Je lisa…is des livres de psychanalyse, j'écoutais mes patients, j'entendais mes collègues parler entre eux et je disais qu'il y avait quelque chose qui ne tournait pas rond. A force de parler dans un certain code, c'est la substance même de la cure psychanalytique qui se perd. Il fallait aller y voir de plus près. Aussi ai-je essayé en prenant un noyau d'auteurs que j'ai appelé mon "noyau narratif", Freud, Mélanie Klein et Winnicott, de voir comment le récit dans la psychanalyse fonctionne. C'est un acte qui peut faire événement à condition que l'analyste puisse parler aussi un peu de lui en même temps qu'il parle de ses patients. A mon avis, c'est le point d'appui le plus solide parce que le plus fragile. La psychanalyse n'est pas une rhétorique, un art de la persuasion. Trop souvent le récit dans la psychanalyse occupe une fonction rhétorique : démontrer la valeur d'un concept, d'une théorie, d'une institution. Parler vraiment de ce que l'on fait c'est montrer que l'acte psychanalytique n'est jamais joué une fois pour toutes, qu'il est une question éthique au sein d'une technique. (Max Kohn).
