Copiously illustrated with colour plates, maps, charts, (colour and black and white) and numerous black and white photos.

Illustrations include thirty-two black-and-white photograph plates, some of which were taken by the Earl of Mayo, as well as five colour folding maps.The topographical survey is divided into two parts, the first being the general survey of existing conditions, while the second part concerns recommendations for the area. Chapter headings include 'Towns and Villages', 'Bridges', 'Landscape Character', and 'Special Areas to be Preserved'.Prepared by The Earl of Mayo, S. D. Adshead and Patrick Abercrombie, with assistance from W. Harding Thompson, a member of the Thames Valley Branch of the Council for the Preservation of Rural England.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent. Cloth is bright, with a single mark to rear board. A bit of spotting to text block. Prior owner's ink inscription to front endpaper. Dust wrapper has a bit of edge wear that has resulted in a small closed tear to top of front wrap as well as two to the head of spine. A bit of spotting to top edge, with a few marks to front and rear wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout, as well as plates and folding maps.
