Limited to 1000 copies, but the first 250 have a loosely inserted, hand printed 'jeu d'esprit' which is included in this copy as it is no. 46, quarto (29x21x2m), original pictorial boards with cellophane wrapper,mint condition. This is a fully illustrated bibliography of the press with lots of explanatory notes by the printers. Apart from the numerous black and white illustrations there is a section of coloured plates. The jeu d'esprit is a beautifully printed 'Two Hymns to Pan' and there is also a small typographic 'If' both on paper made by Frances McDowall.

First edition in fine condition, limited to 1000 copies, this is number 435. No dustjacket, original glassine wrapper. Pictorial printed boards. heavily illustrated. (Book ref 4500).

Page edges rough cut. An intensely personal work by Eric Gill originally published by Robert Gibbings at the Golden Cockerel Press in 1926 as a limited run. This lavish new edition - faithful to the original - is a similarly limited edition, is hand-numbered as No. 10 hors commerce (of 15, outside of the run of 60 copies made available for general sale). Nicolas McDowall designed this publication, typesetting and printing in Gill's Aries typeface at Catchmays Court, Llandogo, Monmouthshire. The intaglio printing (all direct from Eric Gill's copper plates - five fine copper engravings) is by Martyn Grimmer, masterprinter at Spike Island in Bristol. Preface by Frances and Nicolas McDowall. Slight discolouration to upper front panel of slipcase, otherwise near fine condition.
