Aggiungi al carrelloColour sugoroku game sheet, 54 x 77cm, counters on right margin, striking monocolour advertisement for life insurance on reverse featuring the lucky God of wealth shaking his mallet. Washi paper repairs along folds, sugoroku is in very good bright condition. This colourful sugoroku game was published in 1925 as a supplement to t…he January 1925 issue of Asahi Graph, and features popular cartoon characters who appeared in the parent magazine. The cartoons represented are Adventures of Sh?-chan (???????) by Kabashima Sh?ichi, Bringing Up Father by George McManus, and Mutt and Jeff by Bud Fisher. Kabashima?s cartoon became very popular with readers. Sh?-chan, who bears some resemblance to Tintin and is always shown wearing a beanie, embarks on various adventures with his pet squirrel, Risu. In Japan, beanies are still sometimes called Sh?-chan b?, or ?Sh?-chan hats? George McManus?s cartoon was also very popular in Japan, with the dialogue translated into Japanese. Bud Fisher?s Mutt and Jeff was likewise planned for regular publication in Japan, but the Great Kant? Earthquake of 1923 prevented the arrangement from going ahead. The counters printed in the right margin feature the main characters from these cartoon series.
