Evidence of where the publisher's added printed paper strip over the DJ has been removed on front and back panel with some loss of text. This publisher's printed feature that attached to the original dust jacket in not present. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: From the DJ: "This book deals with the salient features of the Hudson's Bay Company. A notable feature of this work is its contribution to geography, botany, meteorology, ethnically, dietetics, psychology (normal and morbid)." The author left his home in the Orkneys at the age of 15 to engage with the Hudson's Bay Company in 1897. He served in a number of positions in the North, met the explorers and travelers of the day, and was still working at the HBC's 250 Anniversary and retired in 1928. This is a very good and informative book with much interesting information of the era in the Canadian North. Nicely illustrated.
