Collated, complete.Illustrated by Kenny Meadows, a caricaturist who is best known for his contributions to 'Punch'. His illustrations were known for a humorous bohemian style, and for the quality of his illustrations. This was his first major work. Contributors to the work, writing essays to accompany Meadow's illustrations, include William Makepeace Thackeray, Leigh Hunt, Douglas Jerrold, and William Howitt.With the illustrated bookplate of American industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie to each front pastedown. Carnegie, born in Scotland, emigrated to America as a child, and was instrumental in the expansion of the American steel industry, becoming one of the richest Americans in history, and a leading philanthropist in the United States, Great Britain, and the British Empire.
