Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Künstlern: solche, die Regeln erstellen und andere, die sie anwenden, solche, die nichts finden und andere, die erfinden, solche, die glänzen und solche, die nur glimmen, andere, die lange aushalten und solche, die ihre Zeit prägen. Es gibt Künstler, die schnell oben sind und andere, die erst mit dem Alter hoch kommen. Einige drehen kurz eine kleine Runde und treten dann ab, aus gutem Grund oder schlechtem oder beiden zusammen. Es gibt die Frühstarter und die Spätzünder, und es gibt schliesslich alle anderen auch noch. Michel Würthle gehört zu der kleinen Gruppe der Künstler des demon de midi. In den Untiefen der Lebensmitte angekommen, bietet ihm das Zeichnen, wie er selber sagt, in Form "eines einsamen und schmerzvollen Werks der Sublimation" einen eleganten Ausweg aus den Risiken eines zu erwartenden sexuellen Scheiterns. Die züchtige Fabel vom Rückzug der Weisheit baut auf Ironie und schwarzem Humor, den zwei unausweichlichen Ausprägungen seiner Gefühlswelt. So setzt er sich diskret wieder in Szene, diesmal auf der anderen Bühne, der der Wünsche. Ihm öffnet das Zeichnen als einschneidende Erfahrung das anhaltende Theater der Phantasmen. Michel Würthle könnte auch den Horden- oder Bandenkünstler zugezählt werden: er gehört zu jener von Martin Kippenberger, d.h. zur Berliner Sektion dieser gefährlichen Gang. Der Künstler und Gastwirt, geboren 1943 in Hallstatt, war 1961 von Konrad Bayer mit Oswald Wiener bekanntgemacht worden und nach Kunststudien in Paris 1971 in Berlin hängengeblieben, wo er mit Oswald und… Ingrid Wiener das Lokal 'Exil' aufgemacht hat, sodann 1979 mit Reinald Nohal die Paris Bar in der Kantstraße, für Kippenberger von erheblicher Bedeutung. Der hintere Deckel zeigt zwei Farbabbildungen von Aufnahmen in der Paris Bar mit Michael Gorbatschow und Frau bei Tisch und stehend mit Reinald Nohal. Der Bildteil zeigt Jörg Schlick in der Ausstellung 'für Aky Bleich-Rossi' im März, der eben verstorben war. Alexander Bleich-Rossi (hier auf Seite 1 in ganzer Figur) war mit seiner Frau Gabriella ein Pionier in Graz und Galerist von Martin Kippenberger. Die Bilder Schlicks sind jeweils nach den Buchstaben des Namens des Händlers eingesetzt. - Die Loge war 1985 von Schlick mit den deutschen Malern Kippenberger und Albert Oehlen in Graz gegründet worden, gemeinsam mit Wolfgang Bauer, die zur Vorbereitung der Ausstellung 'Kritische Orangen für Verdauungsdorf' bei Bleich-Rossi zusammengetroffen waren. Weitere Mitglieder Max Gad (d.i. Mathias Grilj), Walter Grond und Niki Lauda. Motto: Keiner hilft keinem. Die Mitglieder waren verpflichtet, das Logo der Loge, einer Bierdeckelzeichnung mit den drei tragenden Elementen, über ihre Werke zu verbreiten.
