Illustrated paper on boards binding has some rubbig and wear along edges, especially bottom corners. Red cloth spine has some dust soiling but is in rather nice condition. A young artist to be has written his name in crayon on two pages and coloured the man on the donkey on page 7 blue., The back endpaper on the inside of the cover has been torn off - 1 1/2" by 4 1/2 ". In the 'Early Reader Series' and number 27; and a "Retold for Younger Readers" edition. This version is frequently listed as undated. Edition and printing not known. First published in 1863. In very good pictorial paper covered boards showing babies holding hands and dancing underwater to front and rear, with white and black titles and red cloth spine. The boards are very flat and firm and unmarked and with sound edges and spine ends. The pages are illustrated with black and white drawings and tightly bound and even. The cut edges are slightly tanned and the page edges inside are also slightly tanned. Very good condition.There is the name and address of a former owner on the title page. With poor dust jacket that replicates the boards. Most of the front of the jacket is missing; the back cover is in very good condition. Not clipped. In a new removable protective sleeve.
