A4. pp. 96. Numerous corrections and annotations in Haning's hand, additional material (some duplicated) and photocopies, many of illustrations, and a couple of stapled in pages included. Lists of captions for illustrations. A4. pp. 21 + one photocopy of an art class by Miller. About pp. 90 photocopies, a few duplicated, of illustrations from Miller's photo album and typed passages for the book, with a few handwritten notes by Miller attached and markings in Haining's hand. The content includes childhood memories growing up on Oulton Broad, accounts of her wartime experiences as an ambulance driver with examples of her work depicting Norwich's bomb damage and the pleasure she derived from Broadland and her houseboat 'The Nutcracker'. Miniature version of 'An Artist's Broadland' (proof copy?) in black and white with Latin text. pp. 20. Foreword by Derek Neville of Itteringham Mill. pp. 2., typed. Handwritten copy made in 1976 by Philippa Miller of an original piece by Frederick Miller first written in 1915. pp. 4. Frederick Miller, her father, built yachts and cruisers and in 1908, a prototype hydroplane for Lowestoft's Brooke Marine. He also converted a former Thames barge, named Pauline, into a floating hotel. One newspaper cutting. Philippa "Pippa" Miller (1905-2006) Norfolk writer, painter and photographer attended Lowestoft School of Art. She wrote a book on Village Signs in Norfolk with a teaching colleague and researched pill boxes in the area. Late in life she had two exhibitions in Norwich Cathedral. The first was concerned with her artistic record of wartime Norwich and the second focused on her Broadland scenes. Peter Haining (1940Ð2007) was a prolific writer and editor on subjects ranging from crime and horror to witchcraft and fantasy. He became Editorial Director of the New English Library publishing house. He was married to Philippa Waring who has published books with the Souvenir Press on folklore, traditional medicine and healing, including 'A Dictionary of Omens and Superstitions' and 'The Way of Feng Shui'. Both of them were good friends of Philippa Miller. Very good. Very good.
