Original brochure, 27*21,5 cm. Condizione: Gut. Unpaginated [23 p.], 8 ill. Bumped, otherwise clean. - From the text by Ian Jeffrey: Lisa Milroy paints light-fittings, quite a lot of light-fittings. There might be around twenty different kinds of bulbs and strips arranged in that large painting, with, for instance, an opaque mushroom cropping up in three or four different places in a varied company of cones and tubes. It asks to be worked out, and appears to have proceeded to a plan, although appearances can be deceptive. If there is a scheme there it will probably never be reduced to a formula, but the fathoming itself is straightforward enough, for the units are restricted to a few appearances, which might be taken in at a glance or two. Search, note, and repeat the performance, and become conscious of the time it takes. What sort of time? A time of looking and naming: cone whirl, green domestic, silver-based, grey globe. Find the unit, and then remember it via both a look and a name. Anyone intrigued here for long will, inevitably, become conscious of procedure, of routine, of a pattern in consciousness, just as anyone in front of a Judd piece must become aware of movement in relation to perception. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.

Fine in publishers decorated boards. 1st edition, 1st issue of board book / Catalogue.Comprised of thick cardboard pages, and with five double-page brightly coloured images from Lisa Milroy's 2007 exhibition at Ikon, this publication has a child-like quality that is reminiscent of children's picture books. This echoes the dream-like world explored in Milroy's recent work, wherein the artist created a contrived landscape in the gallery, surrounding visitors with large-scale canvases depicting images of an ornamental garden. The rolling lawns, ornamental lake, island and bridge, and trees full of pink blossom represented in the paintings allude to the five senses, a theme that is explored in depth in this publication's introductory essay. Written by Dawn Ades - a specialist in Surrealist Art, Fellow of the British Academy and trustee of Tate - this text provides an insight into Milroy's work, including a focus on the Renaissance tapestries that provided the initial inspiration for the exhibition. The publication also includes a List of Works and a selection of working drawings produced by Milroy in her development of the paintings. ISBN 1904864333.

Soft cover. Condizione: As New. Like new paperback copy of a fine study. The catalogue produced to accompany an exhibition held at Tate Liverpool in 2001. This appears to be brand new unopened copy. This authoritative work documents the breadth of Milroy's career bringing together a range of her paintings from the 1980s and 90s and a body of new work. Illustrated with works from the retrospective exhibition being held at Tate Liverpool and other sources, the book is organized by subject rather than chronology and provides a visual catalogue that reveals recurrent themes and ideas. Milroy first received attention during the 1980s for her paintings of familiar and quite ordinary objects, often devoid of any specific context, which explored issues around space, repetition, pattern, rhythm, and order. Since the early 1990s, Milroy's subject matter has expanded to include landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, people and animals, revealing her continued interest in objects in relation to space. No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. Original exhibition poster of London artists' collective. 32 x 67 cm , in very good condition. Lisa Milroy (born 16 January 1959 in Vancouver, British Columbia)[1] is an Anglo-Canadian artist known for her still life paintings of everyday objects. In the 1980s Milroy s paintings featured ordinary objects depicted against an off-white background. Subsequently her imagery expanded, which led to a number of different series including landscapes, buildings and portraits.[1] As her approaches to still life diversified, so did her manner of painting, giving rise to a range of stylistic innovations. Throughout her practice, Milroy has been fascinated by the relation between stillness and movement, and the nature of making and looking at painting. ----- Zebedee Jones was born in London. He attended Camberwell College of Arts, Norwich University of the Arts and Chelsea School of Art and Design graduating in 1993. The following year Jones's paintings appeared in Unbound: possibilities in painting at the Hayward Gallery. His work is in several public collections including Tate, National Galleries of Scotland and the Arts Council of Great Britain Collection. Jones's work consists of monochrome abstracts, which have been described as adjacent to Neo-conceptual art or belonging to the Process Art tradition. However, above Jones is called one of a generation of artists who spearheaded a move away from conceptual, installation and video art in favour of a return to painting . His canvases are stretched over deep frames. The paint appears scraped on in layers, usually horizontal. The dragged surface of the canvas rather than being smooth has varying degrees of surface incident. Zebedee Jones lives and works in London. ------Michael Davis is a Los Angeles-based artist, working in the fields of drawings, sculptures, installation art and public art. He maintains a studio in San Pedro, California. He received a Masters in Fine Art from California State University, Fullerton, and he is a grant recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts, among others. His work is in museums, galleries across the United States. His significant body of public art is found in rail stations, public parks and civic buildings across the United States and in Japan. He is the co-author and subject of PROGRESS: In Search of the American Esthetic, an exhibition that features photographs, video projections, audio and ephemera documenting artists Michael Davis and Stephen Moore s cross-country trip by car from California to New York in 1970 and their subsequent trip traveling the same route in reversing, from New York to California.

In 1977, aged 18, Milroy travelled to Paris and studied at the Paris-Sorbonne University.[2] In 1978 she moved to London for a foundation course at Saint Martin's School of Art and gained her BFA at Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1982.[2] Her first solo exhibition in 1984 was based on still life. In 1989 she won the John Moores Painting Prize.[3] Milroy has taught at the Slade School of Fine Art, London since 2009.[4] She gained election to membership of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2005. Milroy was appointed Artist Trustee of Tate from 2013-2017 and Liaison Trustee to the National Gallery from 2015 - 2017.[5] In 2015 Milroy set up Hands On Art Workshops, contributing to Vodafone Foundation and UNHCR s Instant Network Schools digital learning programme. Hands On Art Workshops engages primary and secondary school students in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya in practical art workshops, which Milroy delivers from London through live interactive video conference sessions. Milroy travels to Kakuma Refugee Camp annually to deliver Hands On Art Workshops, working with UNHCR Kakuma.

Brossura. Condizione: come nuovo. Condizione sovraccoperta: ottimo. prima edizione. Offering unique insight into the world of contemporary art, this book looks at four generations of artists, from the established to the newly emerged. Photographs of each of the artists, taken by Amanda Eliasch during 2002 in the artists' studios, are set alongside examples of their work. The text by Gemma de Cruz provides a brief overview of who the artists are, what they do and how their work and ideas fit into the art world at this time. This book draws attention to a particular selection of artists who together form a strong idea of what is happening now in contemporary art in London, featuring artists who are influential alongside those they have influenced. I suppose I became interested in art about ten years ago when I met Charles Saatchi at the Amanpuri Hotel in Thailand. I was sitting by the swimming pool and he was sitting with the film director David Puttnam. He asked me where I lived and I told him in Chester Square. "Well, introduce me to your husband because we need clever young people like him." So we became friends, but not within the art world. Johan was his "cleaner," as he called him, he'd clean up his mess and he cleaned up the Saatchi deal between the old and new companies. I really appreciated Charles's help recently as he assisted me with my photographic shows of nudes. The last one he came to he said, "Oh, definitely, definitely commercial, stick to 1930s Paris." I had been working with Martin Maloney and doing some colour photographs, and Martin said, "Keep on with them." Charles said, "If you keep on with them you'd better go into magazines." So I went to New York and took my book round and I got a call back from Visionaire. I then telephoned Katy Barker who was the only photographic agent I knew and asked her advice. She told me that I couldn't show nudes and that I should do some fashion photographs. So I was introduced to a girl named Rushka Bergman who helped me take the correct photographs for my book. I showed them to the photographer Michel Comte, who took me to Italian Vogue. I then did one or two jobs for Franca, including the Kartell Catalogue, which many photographers did. It showed artists in their chairs. She liked the pictures and suggested I do a book on artists in their studios. I asked for a writer, and Martin suggested Gemma de Cruz, and we drew up a list together. The list in the book is quite varied: It is Young British Artists and a few of the Establishment who actually made the young artists or helped to make them. I liked the older guys because I think as a cu.

202 pagina's, Hardcover, Nederlands/Engels, in goede staat, ill. in kleur / z/w., ISBN 9789077193266. 1620 g.
