Aggiungi al carrelloMass Market Paperback. Condizione: Good. First Paperback Edition. Originally published by Gollancz in 1946. This is the first UK paperback edition. Slight printing variant in that the price label circle on the front cover has been left blank rather than having 1/6 printed on it. Light surface discolouration and edge wear to the covers with a two inch crease to the bottom corner of the rear cove. Text block pulling away from the covers a little at the front of the book. Insides of the covers and the pages browned with small creases to a few corners but otherwise clean and unmarked. Aggiungi al carrelloBrossura. Condizione: new. Milano, 2020; br., pp. 208, cm 12x24.(I Bassotti. 208). Libro.

Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Death in a Deck-Chair' is a classic British mystery novel that stands as a quintessential example of Golden Age detective fiction. Written during the height of the genre's popularity in 1930, the story presents a clever and engaging puzzle that begins with a startling discovery at a seaside resort. When a guest is found dead in the most public of places-a deck-chair-the tranquil holiday atmosphere is replaced by a web of suspicion and intrigue.Milward Kennedy, a notable contemporary of the great masters of British crime, crafts a narrative filled with sharp observations and meticulous plotting. The work challenges the reader to sift through a diverse cast of characters, each with their own secrets and motives, in search of the truth. As the investigation progresses, the novel explores the social dynamics and tensions of the interwar period, maintaining a balance between suspense and wit.Valued for its historical place in the evolution of the modern detective story, 'Death in a Deck-Chair' remains a compelling read for those who appreciate the traditional 'whodunnit.' With its atmospheric setting and carefully constructed mystery, the work exemplifies the enduring appeal of the British mystery tradition. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
