Printed in Thailand. 11.75 x 8.5 inches. Black leatherette hardboards, and with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the front board and the spine. Unbumped spine head and tail, and sharp corners. Front board gently concave along the fore edge. Text block firmly bound in. With xv and 173 numbered pages. With over 200 B&W and color plates throughout, some full-page. Also with B&W figure drawings. The appendices section is quite comprehensive, including, for instance, mordanting recipes and a dye list. Noticeable page waviness along the fore edge, as to be expected in a book of heavy-weight, glossy paper. Tiny red stamp mark at upper corner of front FEP. Else exceptionally clean. With a fully intact pictorial dust jacket, with light curling along the very top edge. Very gently read. A Near Fine copy in a Near Fine DJ. 2 lbs. 5 oz. The author, Marjo Moyeyes, born in Holland and educated as a natural dyer and weaver in Holland, Norway and England, moved to Thailand in 1986. Here she quickly became involved in a project to revive and preserve the centuries old natural dyeing techniques of Thailand. Her practical work with village craftswomen has given her a good understanding of these age-old methods and procedures. In addition, she tried out all the dyes and processes herself. Her wholly practical approach makes this book a superior guide for the working dyer and more valuable than theoretical books in this field. A comprehensive collection of 135 recipes enables the practicing dyer to experiment with dyes from Thailand at home.
