Tema saatuseks oli pääseda eluga sõjast, näljast ja katkust, õpetada professorina Uppsalas moraali ja Lundi ülikoolis praktilist filosoofiat, pidades vahepeal ka rektoriametit. 1743. aastal läks ta pensionile ning tegeles Eesti- ja Liivimaa olusid ja ajalugu Rootsi lugejale kirjeldava raamatu koostamisega.
